Episode 1 introduces Skibidi Dad, a podcast hosted by a father and his Gen Alpha daughter. They discuss the possibility of an asteroid hitting Earth, South Korea’s presidential impeachment, myths about rabbits and carrots, and learn from little brother why giraffes make good parents.
This was the first time we sat down, hit record, and tried to make sense of microphones, segments, and whether the world might end in eight years. Dana was slightly tired. I was slightly panicked. The vibe? Controlled chaos. And surprisingly wholesome.
We started with a Vibe Check, which mostly involved Dana dragging herself through the after-school exhaustion fog while I tried to pretend I knew what a vibe check actually was. Spoiler: I do not. Dana gave it a solid 7 out of 10 day though—mostly thanks to punching pads in boxing and despite a maths test.
From there, we got into our first official Skibidi Moment, where Dana tried to explain what “Skibidi” means. Is it just funny? Or is it random, weird, and slightly unexplainable? Apparently, it’s all of those—and more. Our first example? Trying to find a car park when there should be heaps of them, but somehow the universe says no. That’s Skibidi.
Then it was time to zoom out a bit. In World Views, we tackled South Korea’s recent (and very real) presidential impeachment. Dana did a better job than most news anchors I’ve seen—summarising what happened, why it matters, and why some leaders seem more into drama than actual progress. She also asked a question that stuck with me: “Do normal people’s opinions even matter when governments make huge decisions?” It’s a good one, and I didn’t really have a good answer.
Our Big Question this week came from space—literally. There’s an asteroid that might (but probably won’t) hit Earth in the next eight years. We talked about what we’d do, who we’d trust, and whether we’d still have to go to school if the asteroid was definitely going to land. Dana votes no. I panicked and started calculating where it might hit and how the government would respond. Dana, wisely, just wanted bubble tea first.
We also kicked off our Fact or Fiction segment, which included the shocking reveal that rabbits don’t actually love carrots and that bananas don’t technically grow on trees. I was today years old when I learned both of these things. Dana was… unsurprised.
The episode closed with Brother Jokes—yes, our youngest family member stepping up to deliver animal puns, popcorn punchlines, and his usual brand of chaotic charm. We’re proud. Slightly concerned. But mostly proud.
We didn’t know what to expect from Episode 1, but what we got was a little messy, kind of magical, and totally us. A curious dad and a thoughtful Gen Alpha daughter, figuring it out one Skibidi Moment at a time.
Thanks for joining us for the ride.
